When we think of beaches, Galicia is probably not the first destination that comes to mind. However, this Spanish region has some of the most beautiful beaches in Spain. So, in this post, you can find 12 of the best beaches in Galicia.
This list is far from being exhaustive, but you can use it to get some ideas for your next getaway 😊
01 | Riazor and Orzán Beaches (A Coruña)
Located in the centre of the city of A Coruña, these two beaches form a single bay and are separated by an observation platform.
Both have blue flags and are very popular during the summer. Alongside the beach, there is also a pleasant walkway for a stroll along the shore.
Where to park
Finding free space near these two beaches may not be simple. So the best solution is really to search on Google Maps for the following parks: Aparcadoiro Orzán – Riazor or Parking Saba Praza Pontevedra.
02 | Lapas Beach (A Coruña)
A tiny beach only 70 metres long and 30 metres wide, but a true paradise with a direct view of the incredible Tower of Hercules.
Where to park
There are several spaces available by the beach or alternatively, you can park by the Tower of Hercules.
Accommodation close to the beaches of Riazor, Orzán and Lapas
To visit one of these beaches located in the centre of A Coruña it is clearly more convenient to stay in the city of A Coruña. Some suggestions include:
- Hesperia A Coruña Centro: With fantastic conditions, this hotel is located merely 10 minutes walk from the beaches of Riazor and Orzán
- Hotel Riazor: closer would be impossible with this hotel right in front of Riazor beach
- Melia Maria Pita: excellent service and sea views at one end of Orzán beach
03 | Langosteira Beach (A Coruña)
Langosteira Beach is probably one of the most beautiful beaches in Galicia 😊. Being 4 km long, when there are no clouds, the seawater is incredibly clear. Get your cameras ready because you’ll want to take lots of pictures!
Where to park
There are some parking spaces available near Tira do Cordel, but also next to Bar O Trebón.
04 | Sardiñeiro Beach (A Coruña)
Although relatively small (1.2 km long), this is another crystal clear beach to enjoy on the Galician coast.
Where to park
The best option is to look for a parking space next to Restaurant Cabanel in Rúa Praia or next to A Cabaña Restaurant.
Accommodation close to the beaches of Langosteira and Sardiñeiro
Given the proximity of these beaches to the Fisterra pueblo, I suggest some accommodation in this area:
- Apartamento Valdemar Keliam Fisterra: modern flat, located right next to Langosteira beach. Guests particularly praise the friendliness and availability of the hosts.
- Hotel Rural Finisterrae: rural accommodation, but with good conditions. The outdoor pool is perfect for a quiet day in Fisterra.
05 | Carnota Beach
Being 7 km long, Carnota Beach is one of the largest beaches in the region of Galicia. On sunny days, it is a true paradise that even makes you forget that the temperature of this seawater is not the same as in the Caribbean 😉.
Where to park
This beach is so large that there are several car parks available. Just google it: Aparcadoiro Maceiras (Praia de Carnota) | Aparcadoiro Praia de Carnota (Pedrafigueira) | Aparcadoiro Praia de Carnota
💡 EXTRA TIP: For the best views of this beach, I suggest a visit to the Louredo viewpoint. Here you will understand the true length of the beach.
06| Lariño Beach (A Coruña)
With some popularity among surfers, Lariño beach is 1.8 km long. It is characterized by its kind of bay with the photogenic Mount Louro in the background.
Where to park
Look for “Aparcamiento gratuito” on Google Maps or, to access the other end of the beach, park next to the Lariño lighthouse.
07 | Ancoradoiro Beach (A Coruña)
Much smaller than Lariño Beach, this beach is behind the hill that can be seen from Lariño Beach.
Where to park
You can again choose to search for “Aparcamiento gratuito” on Google Maps, which also serves as a car park for Lariño Beach.
08 | Castelo Beach (A Coruña)
A tiny beach only 200 metres long, right next to the historic centre of the Muros pueblo. It is incredibly beautiful with its white sand and crystal-clear water. One of the most beautiful I’ve seen in Galicia!
Where to park
Muros is very small, so you probably won’t have a hard time finding a place near the centre and Castelo beach. I suggest looking near Cabo Street or Bombé Avenue.
Accommodation close to Carnota, Lariño, Ancoradoiro and Castle Beaches
To visit these beaches, I suggest staying overnight in Muros – a pleasant and quiet pueblo:
- Pensión Casa da Nena: Simple accommodation with no great luxuries, but with all the conditions for a night well spent.
- Casa del Ancla: despite a higher price, the decoration and comfort of Casa del Ancla will make anyone want to visit Muros
09 | A Lanzada Beach (Pontevedra)
A Lazanda Beach is another beach with a considerable length (5,9 km). It is quite spacious, so it is ideal if you don’t like sharing beach space that much.
This beach tends to be windy and it is very popular for sports such as surfing or windsurfing.
Where to park
Parking on this beach couldn’t be easier. There is a free car park right by the beach entrance with hundreds of spaces available.
10 | Barreiriño Beach (Pontevedra)
If we were looking for a definition of paradise on Earth, Barreiriño Beach would be right up there. A hidden beach in the O Grove region, completely idyllic 🥰
The beach is tiny (less than 300 metres long) but definitely worth a visit!!!
Where to park
There are not many places available, but the nearest place to leave the car and walk a small distance to this beach is next to the O Carreiro kiok.
Accommodation near the beaches of Lanzada and Barreiriño
- Hotel Spa Atlántico San Vicente do Mar: 4-star hotel with outdoor pool and spa services
- Píllaras da Lanzada: apartment complex next to A Lanzada Beach, with an outdoor pool and very modern
11 | Ribeira Beach (Pontevedra)
Located right next to the historic centre of Baiona, Ribeira beach is a small beach but is the ideal place to cool down on the hottest summer days. Its waters are also very clear and from there you can see the Baiona Harbour.
Where to park
There is a paid car park right next to this beach and it is a good option if you cannot find a parking space on the streets of Baiona.
Accommodation near Ribeira beach
Since Ribeira Beach is in the centre of Baiona, the best option is really to stay in Baiona:
- Parador de Baiona: a more luxurious and slightly more expensive experience, but it really seems worth it
12 | A Cova Beach (Lugo)
Because not all beaches have to be by the sea, I decided to end this list with a beautiful river beach. Located in Belesar, it may be small, but it’s quite lively.
It is a place much visited by locals and it is easy to understand why. The space is very pleasant and the beach has a lovely restaurant nearby.
Where to park
Parking is done along the sides of the access roads to this beach. During high season, it may be more difficult to get a parking space right next to the beach, but the effort will be worth it 😉
